| Portland Center Stage
Now in its 22nd season, Portland Center Stage is the city's leading professional theater company and is one of the 25 largest regional theater companies in the nation. An affiliate of the League of Regional Theatres, Actor's Equity Association and Theatre Communications Group, PCS produces a blend of classical, contemporary and premiere works in addition to its annual summer playwrights festival, JAW, now in its eleventh year. In its home at the Portland Armory, PCS has 8,000 subscribers and attracts an annual audience of nearly 100,000 theater-goers of all ages. (After clicking the link, scroll down to see the current shows) The Oregon Zoo The Oregon Zoo has about 2,200 specimens representing 260 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, as welll as over 1,000 species of plants on exhibit. Also at The Oregon Zoo is an authentic steam engine railway that travels throughout the zoo and the wooded hills of Washington Park. Portland Walking Tours Portland Walking Tours' Best of Portland and Underground Portland tours are available seven days a week from March to November. And, their Epicurean Excursion is every weekend year-round. Portland Art Museum The Portland Art Museum is the seventh oldest museum in the United States and the oldest on the West Coast. The Museum's collection of more than 42,000 objects, displayed in 112,000 square feet of galleries, reflects the history of art from ancient times to today. Portland Japanese Garden Located in the West Hills of Portland, the Japanese Garden gives you a sense of peace, harmony, and tranquility and allows you to experience the feeling of being a part of nature. Keller Auditorium Located just two blocks to the East in Portland's spacious Keller Auditorium, audiences have enjoyed Broadway productions, ballet, operas, family events and much more. Portland Saturday Market Every weekend from March through Christmas Eve, you can shop for beautiful crafts. From pottery and mosaics to jewelry and toys, these items are made by local artisans. Plus there's live music, an international food court, and craft-making for kids. |
